Great news for members of the US Coast Guard and their beloved families! $30,000 in grants for the education of qualified spouses of Coast Guard Members have been made available through the Coast Guard Foundation’s Spouse Education Grant Program.

According to Ann Brengle, President of the Coast Guard Foundation, the $30,000 in grants were donated in honor of the memory of Lisa Cook Reed, a Coast Guard Foundation staff member who had worked hard for the first spouse grants from the foundation, and who had sadly passed away in 2013.

Grants for spouses are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and covers assistance for non-military spouses in different educational pursuits from accredited instituCG Foundationtions, including certificate courses, licensing courses, and college and graduate level degrees. The $500 grants, payable once per calendar year, may be awarded to qualifying spouses of active duty enlisted personnel in the E-3 to E-9 pay grade, and that of reservists on active duty orders of over a year. For more details on the program and specific criteria for qualifications, visit the Coast Guard Foundation’s website, at http://www.coastguardfoundation.org.

The Spouse Education Grant program was established by the Coast Guard Foundation in 2010, and this year, they had awarded $20,000 via 37 grants. The goal of the program is to make the lives of Coast Guard spouses better through more affordable educational opportunities. The Coast Guard Foundation, a national nonprofit organization, has been in the business of improving the lives of USCG members and that of their families for over 40 years.

Every day, men and women of the US Coast Guard are on hand to assist us in times of need. We at Kemplon Engineering are always in awe of the heroism and dedication they display, and are delighted to report on programs like that described above, which aims to enhance their lives and that of their beloved families.
